Fuji Xerox Plants 1,000 Mangrove Trees to Absorb 175-ton CO2 Emissions YearlyPutting Its Acts Together Towards A Greener World.KUALA LUMPUR, 1st February 2010 - Fuji Xerox kicked start its tree planting campaign whereby a total of 65 volunteers which include its employees, their families and friends as well as its president, Masahiko Saito, made a trip to Kuala Selangor Nature Park to plant 1,000 mangrove trees recently. The activity was collaboration between Fuji Xerox Malaysia and Malaysia Nature Society (MNS), an NGO which manages the park. The tree planting experience was rather challenging for the volunteers but it was all worthwhile as the 1,000 trees that were planted are able to absorb 175 tons of carbon dioxide (CO²) emissions per year, which will help reduce the impact of global warming. The event was organized to celebrate the launch, in November 2009, of new color multifunction devices, ApeosPort-IV and DocuCentre-IV series, which boast the industry-lowest energy consumption level (The typical energy consumption (TEC) figure is minimum of 1.24kWh/week.). "Throughout the years, we have been carrying out internal as well as external environmental activities," said Masahiko Saito. "The mangrove tree planting exercise is one of our latest Green initiatives which we take pride in carrying out. We are truly committed to contribute even more to the society and our customers in 2010 by running more eco-promotions and campaigns as well as providing top eco-conscious products and services." It was informed by staff at MNS that it is the first time that a company has ever planted 1,000 mangrove trees in less than two hours at the Park.
